Tribute to the GOYAS, an American parachute battalion

The C-47 CLUB ARDENNES SALM RIVER CHAPTER protects the memory of the American soldiers who were members of the Airborne community and, more specifically, those who fought in the 551st Parachute Infantry Battalion. This little-known unit of the US Army's airborne forces, created during the Second World War, fought in our localities during the Battle of the Bulge.

In their honour, the C-47 Club Ardennes Salm River Chapter is organising the 8th GOYAS REMEMBRANCE WALK. Several American families will be present on these anniversary days. Two routes are proposed: 9 km & 15 km - refreshments along the way.

Passage to monuments: 551st PIB in Dairomont (11am ceremony), 551st PIB & Richard ‘Dick’ Field/road out of Rochelinval towards Bergeval (12.30pm ceremony), 551st PIB/village of Rochelinval (2pm ceremony). Return to Grand-Halleux.

8am: departure at the U.S. Halthier refreshment bar (Rue de l'Entraide 19, 6698 Grand-Halleux) - Return on site. Light refreshments on site.
